Appointment reinforces AKD’s European ADR capabilities in complex, cross‑border patent disputes.

Paul Van den Bulck, Partner in AKD’s Brussels office, has been accredited as a Mediator by the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) for a five‑year term.

The PMAC is the UPC’s institutional hub for mediation and arbitration in patent disputes, designed to provide efficient, confidential and flexible alternatives to litigation. As an integral part of the UPC, the PMAC operates from Ljubljana, Slovenia and Lisbon, Portugal, with proceedings commonly conducted in English, French or German. PMAC offers parties an avenue to resolve matters such as licensing conflicts (including FRAND), infringement, and collaboration disputes across jurisdictions.

Paul’s accreditation deepens AKD’s support for clients navigating European patent disputes, enabling pragmatic settlement strategies aligned with the UPC framework.
