With over 500 lawyers, tax advisers, civil-law notaries and support staff in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, AKD is a leading Benelux law firm. For our clients, we are the gateway from, to and in the Benelux.
For over a century now, we have combined a full-service approach and a broad sector focus to consider any question from a range of angles and provide quality solutions - anywhere in the world. Literally. From our own offices, of course, and also through our various country teams and our extensive, worldwide Friends Network.
Practising Dutch, Belgian and Luxembourg law, we have the size, the expertise and the experience to assist in national and international M&As, solve complex public-sector issues, conduct minor and major litigation, and advise on substantial projects such as the energy transition and issues concerning privacy and data security.
Our goal is to give our clients the best advice possible in a contemporary, efficient manner. That is why we offer various fee arrangements. Any fee arrangement is negotiable, from fixed hourly rates to fee caps, from contingency fees to success fees. Feel free to discuss this with your AKD contact and we are certain to find the arrangement most suited to your situation
We help you do both. With committed, ambitious professionals who have no use for legalese but speak your language. We turn complex into coherent and give it to you straight. Rather than leaving your doubts linger, we resolve them. Exactly as you would expect from an adviser.
We believe that everyone working at AKD will only get the best out of themselves if they are allowed to be themselves. That is why we are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing an open, diverse, safe and inclusive environment. AKD is a place where people, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status or sexual orientation, can thrive and reach their full potential.
AKD believes that Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of modern business practice.
We are involved in a number of CSR initiatives. One of them is Make-A-Wish, a not-for-profit organisation that creates life-changing wishes for children with a critical illness. AKD provides Make-A-Wish with pro bono legal services.
AKD also provides pro bono legal services to The Ocean Cleanup, aiding them in their ambition to rid the world of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
The area covered by this accumulation of 80 million tons of plastic waste is about three times the size of France. AKD advises The Ocean Cleanup on the question whether the floating installation can be considered a vessel and which Dutch and international legislation and regulations apply to System 001. AKD also assisted in the drafting of the Covenant with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
We have also partnered with Vereniging Natuurmonumenten, a nature conservation organisation managing sites in the Netherlands with a combined area of over 1000 square km.
We also work together with Pro Bono Connect, an initiative matching NGOs with the country's top lawyers. Our lawyers, tax advisers and civil-law notaries provide the NGOs with free legal advice and assistance
Our firm's success is the combined result of everyone working there now, but also of our alumni, people no longer working at AKD but nonetheless essential contributors to our current standing. Because we like to stay in touch with our alumni, we organise drinks and events with substance and keep them informed through our Alumni Magazine.
Whether it's an international case with multidisciplinary dimensions or a clear-cut case in a single country, sound, transparent project management is imperative.
What stage are we at in the case? Which steps have been completed and which are still to follow? How is the pre-arranged budget coming along?
You can expect strong project management and clear communication from us, ensuring that we deliver in accordance with the agreed terms. This way, no matter where in the world you are, you will know where you stand.
