AKD shortlisted twice for The Lawyer European Awards 2026

 October 6, 2026 | News

The Lawyer European Awards has shortlisted AKD in two categories: “Law Firm of the Year: Benelux” and “European Energy Transition Team of the Year”.

Energy transition across the Benelux

AKD’s Energy team advises clients across Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg on projects and transactions at the heart of the energy transition.

The team combines transactional and regulatory expertise and works across jurisdictions where projects require input from different areas of law. The work covers renewable energy, including offshore and onshore wind and solar PV, as well as hydrogen, carbon capture, battery storage and energy infrastructure such as electricity, district heating, hydrogen and CO₂ networks.

Thomas Chellingsworth, Industry Lead Energy at AKD:

“The energy transition brings together increasingly complex legal, regulatory and commercial questions. Our teams in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg work together closely to support clients across the different stages of their projects. We are very pleased to see that approach recognised through this shortlist.”

The team’s market position is reflected in its external rankings. As of 2026, AKD is the only firm in the Benelux with five ranked partners in the energy categories across the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners in Belgium and the Netherlands. These rankings cover both transactional and regulatory expertise.

Recognition as a Benelux firm

Alongside the Energy Transition nomination, AKD has again been shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year: Benelux.

The two nominations reflect different parts of AKD’s work across the Benelux, from our broad cross-border practice to our sector expertise in areas such as the energy transition.

The winners of the 2026 The Lawyer European Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on 26 November 2026.
