About Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht
Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht is a partner at AKD who specialises in intellectual property law.
He advises and represents national and international clients in cases relating to copyright law, design law, trademark law, trade name law, advertising law and unfair competition.
As an experienced litigator, Roderick regularly litigates in infringement cases before courts and courts of appeal and in arbitration proceedings. He also advises on brand development, product design and intellectual property agreements, such as licences, assignments, and distribution. In his practice, Roderick assists companies that are active in, for example, the fields of retail and the production and marketing of consumer products (fashion, foodstuffs and household products).
In 2020, Roderick obtained his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam for his research on trade name law (‘De Handelsnaamwet onder de loep’).
Roderick often lectures and publishes on various subjects in the field of intellectual property law. He is the regular lecturer for the BMM vocational training for trademark and design attorneys, for the S.K. Martens Academy (specialist course in IP litigation) and for the Permanent Education Centre.
