About Stefan Bais

Stefan Bais is a partner of the firm, specialising in corporate law with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions. With over 20 years of experience, he advises on a broad range of corporate transactions and structures, including domestic and cross-border M&A, post-merger integrations, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and corporate governance.

Stefan acts for medium-sized and large businesses, the majority of which are (ultimately) privately or family controlled. He is a member of AKD's private wealth practice group, where he advises on corporate structures and family governance, helping closely held businesses strike the right balance between individual, family and business objectives — both short-term and long-term.

Stefan is the Interlaw Global Chair for M&A. He coordinates international transactions and cross-border matters through AKD’s worldwide network of leading law firms. For many clients, Stefan serves as a trusted adviser across a wide range of legal matters, acting as the linking pin between the client and the relevant specialists — whether within AKD or at a firm in another jurisdiction.

His advice regularly calls for a multidisciplinary approach. Clients value his commercial perspective, his feel for the dynamics surrounding a transaction or project, and his ability to translate complex legal issues into practical solutions.
