About Roeland Bertrams

Roeland Bertrams is a lawyer at AKD who has worked for more than thirty years as a specialist in banking law, financial law, international private law and (international) insolvency law. Roeland advises and represents clients in cases relating to, for example, import and export financing, personal and commercial securities and international contracting.

Roeland has written numerous articles, publications and books, including the standard work 'Bank Guarantees in International Trade' and a book entitled 'Private International Law on Contracting and the Vienna Sales Convention' [Overeenkomsten in het Internationaal Privaatrecht en het Weens Koopverdrag]. He is also an editor of various journals and a frequent lecturer and/or speaker at courses, seminars and conferences in the Netherlands and elsewhere.

Until 1 March 2017 Roeland was a member of the Task Force on Demand Guarantees of the Banking Commission of the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). In addition Roeland was a part-time university lecturer at the law faculty of VU Amsterdam until 2014.
