About Keesjan Meijering
Keesjan Meijering is a partner in AKD’s Energy Team, with a sharp focus on the constantly evolving sustainable energy sector. Keesjan brings extensive experience and in-depth knowledge to renewable energy projects in the field of solar, wind, hydrogen, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and heat grids. His skills in advising on and drafting contracts for these projects, including (e.g.) cooperation, superficies, transport and supply agreements, make him a valuable asset to his clients.
In addition to his legal work, Keesjan is a member of the Advisory Board of an energy cooperative, a guest lecturer at Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society teaching the course ‘Governing the Energy Transition’, as well as an active member of the Law & Regulation working group at Stichting Warmtenetwerk (the leading Dutch sector organisation for stakeholders in the heating market). Another highlight of his involvement in the heating market in the Netherlands is the legal training course on the impactful Collective Heat Act (Wcw) which he provides with several of his colleagues at AKD.
Keesjan regularly pens publications, in great variety, on sustainable energy. Examples include AKD’s biennial chronicle on relevant legal developments in the field of solar parks (such as the Electricity Act 1998), articles on BESS and collective heat systems, and AKD’s biennial chronicle on laws and jurisprudence relevant to the heat market. Keesjan also writes for and is the editor of AKD’s ‘Energy Magazine’.
His work and positive client praise have earned Keesjan the ranking of Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500: EMEA. He is also listed as a Green Ambassador in the inaugural edition of the ‘Green Ambassadors Guide’ launched in 2025 by Legal Business (The Legal 500).
